I’ll be frank with you all, when the lockdown hit the UK I panicked. Burlesque and photography are my lifelines in terms of money. Sure I had a little side hustle (more on this later) to keep the proverbial wolf from the door. But with lockdown, there were no shoots, no shows and no income.

Burlesque has always paid the bills and photography has always done the same. With nothing coming in. what was I to do?

It was time I started to be a little more honest about how I earnt my wages. I am an avid saver. It took me time but one of the best pieces of advice I got was to ALWAYS save 25% of everything you earn and never put all your eggs in one basket.

So it was time to take my side hustle into my main hustle. What is that side hustle? Social media marketing.

Now before ya’ll go Khandie, your own social media accounts are lacking, believe me I am shouting along side you too. But there is good reason they are. For years I was able to maintain a manageable burlesque career doing the minimum I needed to stay current. I have always engaged with my followers but never really monopolised on it due to time if honest. I spent more time working on clients social media accounts, so coming home to do my own was so not appealing. However lockdown handed me back all my time and more.

I resorted to social media to keep interest. With my phone never too far away.

I was no longer in endless rehearsals, rhinestoning or researching acts. And my side hustle saw clients disappear as they had to cut costs and one was regrettably not keeping me on retainer to maintain their social media.

So what did I do? I went public and started sharing my info freely. One because I saw the rise in bull sh*tting TikTok videos and insta influencers professing to be social media gurus because they found Canva (albeit bloody good) and used like ladders (dont ever use these) to get some traction.

Here was I sat with numerous qualifications from the Google, Open University and more in areas such as digital marketing and more. So I knew I kinda had to right some wrongs.

Firstly offer free content that kinda dispelled so many tactics of these influencers. Talk and explain why engagement is so more important ALWAYS over follower numbers and more.

I then wrote highly valuable ebooks that cut straight to the point and they have been selling amazing with superb reviews. People in today’s climate wanted proof and direct speak. Not fluff and pretty graphics. Value their time, not their money is kinda my philosophy and hence the No BS Social Media brainchild was founded.

The idea is that only nobs gatekeep info (hence the No BS part) but also your time is valuable so I am not here to waste it.

Social media marketing and content creation is something I do love. I have qualifications, testimonials and accolades but more importantly I do love the giving back element to all this.
