Northampton Half Marathon – Stroke Association

For those who follow me on social media (Facebook, Twitter & Instagram) may have already heard I am taking on the somewhat daunting task of running the Northampton Half Marathon on 6th September 2015. Yeah…21km or 13 miles in old money.

Not far for some of you but for me…it is. I am running it for Stroke Association. For those who recall the tail end of last year, I suffered a TIA/Mini Stroke (read about it here). What I didnt tell you all, is that I had another one soon after.

A TIA or mini stroke as it is sometimes called is BLOODY scary. Heart breaking and pretty much a massive gust of wind to sweep you off your feet and leave you gasping for air.

So rather than sit and feel the world was falling in on me, I joined my local gym. yeah. No. I needed a target so one rather late night I signed up to the Northampton Half Marathon. yeah. the woman who has suffered two TIAs, has a back injury that ended her military career and a dodge ticker is gonna run this half marathon.

I am meaning to run it. I may the slowest to come in but I am not giving up on my way round. I am working hard, in the gym 3/4 times a week plus numerous outdoor runs to get me ready. For those of you who really know me, you will realise I have barely enough time in the week to sleep, so fitting this in has been difficult but I am determined to do it.

SO here is where you come in: SPONSOR ME TO NOT DIE ON THE HALF MARATHON. Come laugh as I sweat my arse around the 21km of course. Come scream with laughter as I fall flat on my face at the finish line or simply share this blog to get others to sponsor me.
